Dear LIFE,
I quit-- the board game that is.
I'm over traveling on your windy yellow brick road with my pink car.
I'm over drawing the "Police Woman" card, lets get real.
I don't need/want kids yet, just save that card for someday down the road (7+ years).
I don't need a lavish six figure salary and stocks in my back pocket.
I just need a career; one that pays the bills, lets me have my occasional monthly mani/pedi and a trip or two to the fashion mall.
I want to draw the "pick the job you love" card.
One that I jump out of bed to go to--cause I know the day has so much in store for me.
It's all rather simple-- I just want to KNOW where I'm going. This whole crossroad b.s. is beginning to wear on me, but I'll stick to my plan, "Letting go and letting God." But listen here Big Man, can you hurry up already? I can't wait to start apartment shopping. Planning trips with my mom to Anthropologie and Target, finding a new daily route--whether it be catching the "L" in Chicago, jumping on Broadway St. in Nashville or taking I-65 around downtown Indy-- I just want to know where.
So go on God-- get busy, but in the meantime, I'll do the following:

I saw this post because of twitter, and this comment may be long. We really don't know each other, but for some reason or another we follow each other on twitter. Anyway, I read your blog post and it made me want to comment.
ReplyDeleteThe job you want is out there, and you will find it one day, however it may not be the way you think. My best suggestion (coming from someone who loves their job, and not trying to boast) is to reach out to as many people as possible. Not just for a job, but just cause. In the social and connected/networked world we live in, business is more and more about who you know and not what you know. While the latter is still very important, the deciding factor could be who you know.
At the same time, never be shy to tell someone you know about your dream job, at least what it is like in your head. It plants a seed and one day, you may get a phone call because someone remembers hearing about that dream, and they found it for you.
Good people, which in my opinion are most people, inherently want to help out other people. You friends, co-workers, mutual acquaintances, or even twitter followers may want to help you out, you just need to make sure they know how they can.
